CONFSEC
++++++++
version 1.00 May 30, 1992
a public domain Wildcat! SysOps' utility by Michael Conley.
(designed for use with Wildcat! 3.x data files)
[ requires BRUN40.EXE in the path ]
What it does:
-------------
CONFSEC is designed to globally alter a security level's access to
conferences. You may ADD or REMOVE any combination of conferences
to one or more security levels.
Running the program:
--------------------
WARNING: CONFSEC reads and WRITES to your Wildcat! SECLEVEL.DAT file.
Please make a backup copy of SECLEVEL.* (usually found in the same
directory where MAKEWILD.DAT lives) before using CONFSEC. While every
precaution has been taken to make certain that your file isn't damaged,
It would be important
No configuration is required for CONFSEC. CONFSEC will search your
DOS path for MAKEWILD.DAT, as well as SECLEVEL.DAT and CONFDESC.DAT.
Start CONFSEC. It will read your Wildcat! data files and present you
with a list of your security levels. You may scroll through these with
the up-and-down arrows, PgUp, PgDn, Home and End keys. To activate a
security level, press the [space bar] ... a black diamond will appear
next to the chosen level. Press the space bar again to deactivate a
particular level, in case you select one in error.
When through with your Security selections, press the [ENTER] key and
you'll be presented with a list of your conferences. You may scroll
through these with the up-and-down arrows, PgUp, PgDn, Home and End keys.
This time, the [space bar] cycles among three options:
A - ADD a conference
D - DELETE a conference
- (blank) - NO ACTION on a conference.
When you're through marking conferences for ADD or DELETE, press the
[ENTER] key. CONFSEC will then update your SECLEVEL.DAT files to make
whatever access changes you've selected.
PROBLEMS, SUGGESTIONS:
======================
CONFSEC is public domain. I don't seek or accept any donations for this or
any of my other Wildcat! utility programs, including TODAYBBS, FLOP, MSTAT,
USTAT, and others.
I welcome suggestions, and will try to help (no guarantees) if there are
problems.
You may contact me at The Charlatan's Cabin BBS (213) 654-7337. Mention
your Wildcat! registration number in the comment and you'll be upgraded to
membership without the usually required registration by mail.
You may also leave a message via CompuServe (70250,220).
Please, NO VOICE CALLS. This isn't meant to be unfriendly, but with
the price of public domain software these days ... I just can't afford
to be "on call." I WILL respond to your questions via my BBS or CompuServe,
or via the Mustang Software registered SysOp BBS.
